Shopify Product Import Process

  1. Complete CSV Import/Export template.
  2. Email to web@advantus.com for upload.

Below you will find how to fill in the spreadsheet. If you are unsure of which information to enter in a certain field, please refer to the glossary index below for clarification.

See definitions for each category header within the .csv file to ensure a successful upload.

Handle:

This is seen at the end web address title of the product. You can specify unique product names letters, dashes, or numbers.

PLEASE NOTE: Spaces, accents, periods, and certain other characters are prohibited, stick to the previously mentioned inputs.

Example:
You enter “3-day-stretch-backpack-nwu-type-iii” in that field and the web address will be: https://mercurytacticalgear.com/products/3-day-stretch-backpack-nwu-type-iii

Title:
Simply put this is the Title of the product. Whatever you put in the Title cell will become the name of the product.

Body (HTML): This is the main product description area. You can use plain text or HTML within this area.

Vendor:
Vendor Name for the product shown. Who makes/creates/sells the product (more than likely would just be the Brand’s Name). Is required, but can be left blank and added in once uploaded if need be.

Type:
This would be the product type. If you are uploading a backpack, you would put backpack and it will set the type as such.

This is not required at upload but does help with SEO and overall search options. Shopify has presets “Types” to choose from once the product is uploaded. However, if the type is not in the presets, Shopify will override it with whatever you enter.

Tags:
These would be attributes or adjectives for the product. Each tag must be separated by a comma.

Example: Tags are vital for setting collections up within the store. After uploading the backpack we previously mentioned, you could tag it as such: Black, water-resistant, hydration-ready, backpack.
