Replenishing 46WLM Flow Rack Inventory

Process Overview: The 46WLM DSDC orders are picked and processed from a flow rack in the 12th Street facility. For the picking and processing to move as efficiently as possible, inventory must be regularly replenished and available. The process below should be used when replenishing the 46WLM flow rack.

Frequency: The flow rack inventory levels should be checked each morning and regularly throughout each day. Inventory is picked from the B and C levels containing the flow racking, outlined in red below. Excess inventory is stored in the upper levels, outlined in yellow.

*Note– If inventory for an item on the flow rack is available in the upper levels, it should be replenished using this inventory first. If there is not enough inventory in the upper levels to replenish the flow rack inventory, the process below should be followed.

Step 1: Notate the items needing to be replenished.

Step 2: Use the Bin Transfer process and transfer each item to its preferred bin on the Walmart flow rack.

  • *Note– When transferring, a full pallet should be transferred if there is an assigned bin for it in the upper-level racking.

Step 3: Fill up the preferred bin. Inventory should flow to the front (picking area) as the bin is being filled.

Step 4: Once the preferred bin has been replenished, the remaining inventory will be put into the appropriate spot in the upper levels of the racking. The upper-level bin locations will have a yellow label notating which item is stored in that bin location. Storing inventory in these ‘extensions’ of the preferred bins allows us to quickly replenish inventory if it is available.

  • *Note– When the upper-level inventory is used to replenish a preferred bin, a bin transfer does not need to take place as this excess inventory is already located in the preferred bin in NetSuite.

This completes the process of replenishing the 46WLM flow rack inventory.
