My Items Shipping Weight < Item Weight

WHAT IS THE REMINDER FOR?

The reminder will show up for domestically stocked finished goods with a shipping weight equal to or less than the item weight.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Incorrect weights can lead to customer shipping fines. If Advantus gives a customer a BOL for an LTL shipment that is +/- 100 pounds from what the carrier weighs, Advantus could have to pay the difference.

In NetSuite, the item weight is the weight of the actual packaged product. The shipping weight is the weight of the master carton divided by the piece count. For all items that do not ship individually, the shipping weight should always be higher than the item weight if the weights are done correctly.

HOW DO I CORRECT THE ISSUE?

Update the item weight or master carton weight to the correct amount.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • If you have like items in the same configuration (ex: 4oz glitter), the item weights and master cartons weights should be pretty consistent, and easy to spot an issue.
  • Don’t assume the item weight is correct. The master carton could be right, and the item weight might need to be adjusted.
