Loading Pallets onto Trailers

Process Overview: The final step in getting a palletized shipment out of the facility is loading the pallet(s) onto the trailer for transport. The process below should be used when loading outbound pallets onto trailers.

Step 1: Ensure the pallet(s) has been fully wrapped and tagged, and the rest of the shipment is ready to ship.

Step 2: Using the forklift, pick up the pallet from the staging area and drive it into the trailer as far as possible. This should be done in conjunction with the Scan to Door booking process. Pallets should be moved into the trailer after they have been scanned to the door. Unless noted otherwise, the pallets should be straight-loaded onto the trailer. The pallet should be dropped right behind the pallet in front of it on either the left or right-hand side.

  • *Note– The trailer wheels should be chocked before entering with a forklift.

Step 3: Back out of the trailer and repeat steps 1-2 until all pallets that need to be loaded have been loaded. This completes the process of loading pallets onto trailers.
