Introduction

Product regulations from around the globe are enforcing stricter standards and requirements for companies to manufacture products.  Product Compliance assesses a product to ensure it meets all customer and regulatory requirements that apply.  Different categories of products have specific standards.  If the answer is “YES” to ANY of the following questions, additional customer or regulatory requirements are applicable to the product:

• Is the intended user/consumer of the product intended primarily for children 12 years of age or younger?
  • Age Grading and Products with Small Parts
• Does the product contain a battery, circuit board, and/or other electronic components?  Is the product capable of emitting radiofrequency energy?
  • Products Containing Battery, Electronic Components, and Frequency
• Does the product contain liquid/liquid formula or compressed air?  Does the product contain material from minerals that are mined (e.g., Tin, Gold)?
  • Products Containing Hazardous or Concerning Chemical or Mineral

In addition, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has a tool called the Regulatory Robot. This tool can help give a general idea of the regulations that would apply to the product.
